How to... make the most out of Unifrog (international schools)
Put these strategies in place to get the most out of Unifrog.
Here are the five tactics to make the most out of Unifrog.
Below find out how to excel at each one.
- Set your top three goals on the Goals tool
- Get confident with the platform
- Use our Counseling Year Plan
- Track your progress using Charts
- Join the community
1. Set your top three goals on the Goals tool
The first tactic is to pick your school’s three goals on the Goals tool. You can see the list of possible goals by clicking here.
Each goal has a chart to track progress, tips on how to delve deeper into the data, and links to ready-to-go resources for achieving them.
Talk to your Unifrog Area Manager or Partnerships Lead to set up the three goals for your school on our Goals tool. The same three goals will appear at the top of the homepage for all teachers.
Here are three goals that a lot of our partners choose (this is just to get you thinking. You can check out the full list of goals here and your Area Manager / Partnerships Lead can help you pick the best goals for your school!
- All students to complete a quiz
- Have a record of all students applications
- Increase parent engagement with the platform
2. Get confident with the platform
The second tactic is to make sure you’re confident using the tools on the platform – both on the student side and the counselor side. The more confident you are using the student tools, the more you’ll be able to get out of your students.
You don’t need to learn how to use Unifrog alone – your Partnerships Lead is here to train you and answer any questions you might have. Get in touch with them to book a free training session with them by emailing help@unifrog.org.
We also have a bank of ‘How to Guides’ which you can access here in the Resources Library (just scroll down and you’ll see them). These walk you through how to use every tool on the platform.
3. Use our Counseling Year Plan
The third tactic: use our Counseling Year Plan – a ready-made curriculum of lesson plans for each year group from age 11-18.
It’s here in the in the Resources library:The Year Plan is mapped against the ISCA Student Standards and the CDI Learning Areas. It links to relevant Unifrog tools and resources, and you can tweak it to make it perfect for your school.
Our pro tips on embedding the Counseling Year Plan:
- Start with our version, then adapt it
There’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Start with our ready-to-go version, then adapt it to suit your school’s context and goals. - SLT and wider staff feed in
Get your senior leadership team involved in building your plan so it’s effectively implemented and embedded. - Deadlines
Our Interactions tool allows you to set tasks, deadlines and reminders to make sure that students are keeping to these deadlines.

4. Track progress using Charts and Activity alerts
The fourth tactic: use Charts and Activity alerts to track progress towards your goals.
Charts
Our library of charts help you to:
- Identify strengths and weaknesses in your careers and university counseling programme
- Evidence the programme you’re delivering to your SLT, board members or anyone else
Every individual counselor or teacher can pin up to three charts to their own homepage. This video explains further how Charts work:

Activity alerts
One counselor at every Unifrog school is the ‘Unifrog Champion’, and they get access to Activity alerts, a tool that gives quick action buttons to address gaps in student usage.
>>> At your school the Unifrog Champion is Not assigned yet! <<<
The Activity alerts tool sits at the top of the Champion’s homepage, and highlights the number of students in each year group yet to complete three fundamental tasks on the platform:
- Logging in
- Completing a task
- Creating a shortlist (the latter is only displayed for G11/Y12 and G12/Y13).
From here the Champion can click ‘See all’ to access the full list of relevant students, or ‘Email students’ to send nudge emails. This video explains further how it works:
