“When we started looking at Unifrog we were already using another platform, but it wasn't working effectively. When I saw the Unifrog tool, I immediately thought it was absolutely incredible. It’s so intuitive for both staff and students. When I presented Unifrog to other staff members, they could see right away how it would support our students in making the right choices for their futures.”

 

MOOCs

“I love the idea that students can make themselves more marketable by taking an additional course independently. The MOOCs tool gets students to think about how they can improve themselves, which is really important, as we want to make sure that all of our students become well-rounded individuals.

The MOOC tool is so good, after having used Unifrog even some of our teachers say that they want to complete a MOOC!”

 

Outside the box

“Unifrog gets students thinking beyond the curriculum. It is incredibly effective at helping students build up a broad picture of the opportunities that are available to them.

We’ve found that the platform introduces students to university courses and apprenticeships they would never have considered before. The university search tool, for example, is excellent at encouraging students to consider joint honours courses they might not previously have heard of. A student who was previously considering Sociology might use the tool and decide that what they really want to apply for is Gender and War Studies."

 

Independence

Our students propel themselves along with Unifrog, they don't have to keep referring back to their teachers as much as they did in the past.”

Younger years

“One thing I’ve been particularly pleased about is that we have recently introduced Unifrog to our year 11s to help them forward plan. They have been able to start thinking about universities and apprenticeships, and to start mapping out their future pathways early on.

I’m expecting this to help with students’ motivation, as they will know exactly how their academic efforts can pay off.”

The Unifrog team have come in and really delivered comprehensive training to our staff. It has also made the experience very enjoyable, and it is enlightening for staff to see what the kids get to see. Many of our staff members say that they wish they'd had Unifrog when they were younger!”

 

Top tip

“One tip I would give to other schools is to make the most of the helpful powerpoint presentations - downloadable on the Teacher side of the tool - that demonstrate how to use all aspects of the tool. When we first launched Unifrog we made use of their resources to support students, and to compliment the searches that they were doing. Schools should make the most of these well designed resources!”
