Unifrog recruitment process: OVERVIEW
The different stages or our recruitment process
Our process is designed to help you demonstrate your suitability for the role you are applying for, while giving you an insight into the role, and what it is like to work at Unifrog.
We make changes to how the application process works for particular roles, but below we detail our standard process.
There are normally 3 steps. Typically, the process takes 5-6 weeks from the application deadline to us appointing someone.
Our applicant tracking system: Applied
We manage all our vacancies and applications through an applicant tracking system called Applied. Strengths of this system include that:
- The system anonymises candidate details (more on this below);
- It helps us communicate with candidates in a timely manner;
- Candidates can easily select interview times that suit their schedules.
If you ever need technical support with Applied, please get in touch with them directly via hello@beapplied.com.
Stage 1: Application form
Equal opportunities form
- First you’ll be asked to complete some questions about yourself and your background. This information is completely anonymous - we can’t connect your answers to your application.
- We use this information to understand the diversity of our candidate pool, and take actions to maximise this diversity.
- If you don’t feel comfortable completing this form, no problem! You can tick the box that says ‘I don't want anyone to have this, even if it's only being used to reduce hiring bias’.
Application questions
- These are designed to highlight your experience and understanding of the role and test key relevant skills.
- We do not review CVs until later in the recruitment process, so it is really important that you provide as much specific detail as possible (e.g. about your relevant experience).
- Don’t include personally identifying information within your application (e.g. your name, age, and education). However, you can include the names of places you have worked or roles you have held.
- Do not use AI to generate your answers. We compare answers to an AI generated answer, and through reviewing lots of applications we quickly spot what's been generated by an AI.
How do we review applications?
- We blind-review all applications, and all personal information is removed so we can focus on the quality of your answer.
- Application answers are “chunked”. We review all candidate’s responses to question 1, before moving on to question 2
- We also randomise the order in which we assess each answer. For example, we might assess Candidate 1's answer to question 1, then Candidate 4's answer to question 2, then Candidate 2's answer to question 3. This means we're not carrying over judgement from a candidate's answer to a particular question to their answer to their next question.
- Each application is reviewed by our Recruitment Lead and the hiring manager, who each cannot see the scores that the other has given until after they've both submitted their scores.
- We weight the answers to all questions equally, and for each applicant we average the scores for all their answers in order to find their application's score.
- We aim to respond to candidates within one week of the application deadline.
Stage 2: Task / Task interview
- We take time to create second-stage tasks that assess only the essential skills needed in the role.
- Task interviews are often role plays that replicate typical scenarios in the relevant role.
- As well as giving us a chance to see you doing things typical of the role for which you're applying, this stage is an opportunity for candidates to experience the kind of things they might do in the role they are applying for.
- In addition to a task, we might also conduct a 15-minute interview to learn more about a candidate's experience.
- We schedule tasks / task interviews throughout the recruitment window, and in the week following the application deadline.
Stage 3: Interview
- We hold all our interviews via Zoom and, where possible, all on the same day.
- There are usually 3 Unifrog people on each interview panel, including someone from our People team, and the hiring manager (a manager in the team that the role will fit into).
- There are a mixture of questions to get to know you, including competency questions and scenario questions.
- We sometimes include a task in the interview (e.g. a demo of the Unifrog platform, or a short presentation on a topic, or an in-tray exercise). You will be given all the material you need to prepare for it.
- We leave time at the end for you to ask any questions you might have.
- We aim to get back to candidates with the outcome of their interview within a week. You will receive a call from someone on the interview panel letting you know our decision, as well as some feedback on your interview.
